Our Mission

Kanjijo was built with a simple mission: to make learning Japanese accessible, effective, and enjoyable for everyone. We believe that with the right tools and methodology, anyone can master Japanese.

Japanese is one of the most challenging languages for non-native speakers, primarily because of its complex writing system. With thousands of Kanji characters, vocabulary words, and two syllabaries (Hiragana and Katakana), the learning journey can seem overwhelming. Kanjijo is designed to break down this complexity into manageable, scientifically-optimized study sessions.

Our Story

As Japanese learners ourselves, we understood the frustration of forgetting Kanji, struggling with vocabulary, and feeling lost in the sea of characters. We created Kanjijo to solve these problems using proven scientific methods like Spaced Repetition System (SRS).

After years of studying Japanese and trying various apps and methods, we realized that most tools either lacked comprehensive content or had poor SRS implementations. Kanjijo was born from the desire to create the ultimate Japanese learning companion — one that combines the best of science, design, and content.
