Terms of Service

Welcome to Kanjijo. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Kanjijo mobile application ("App") and website at kanjijo.com ("Website"), provided by Kanjijo ("we", "our", or "us").

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

Kanjijo is a Japanese language learning application that uses Spaced Repetition System (SRS) technology to help users learn and memorize Japanese Kanji, Vocabulary, Radicals, and Kana. The App offers both free and premium subscription-based features.

2. Account Registration

  • You must create an account to access certain features of the App.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

3.1 Free Tier

The App offers a free tier with limited content (JLPT N5 level). Free users can access basic features including SRS reviews, basic statistics, and offline mode.

3.2 Premium Subscription

  • Premium features are available through auto-renewable subscriptions or a one-time lifetime purchase.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your App Store account settings.

3.3 Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for Premium features. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be automatically charged for the subscription. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

3.4 Refunds

All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Refund requests must be directed to Apple according to their refund policy. We do not directly process refunds.

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App.
  • Copy, modify, or distribute the App's content without our written consent.
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's servers or networks.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts.
  • Upload or transmit viruses or any other malicious code.
  • Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the service.

5. Intellectual Property

  • The App, including its content, features, and functionality, is owned by Kanjijo and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
  • The Kanjijo name, logo, and all related names, logos, and slogans are trademarks of Kanjijo.
  • Japanese language content (Kanji, vocabulary, etc.) is based on publicly available Japanese language standards (Jōyō Kanji list, JLPT standards).
  • You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our express written consent.

6. User Content

Your learning data and progress are your property. By using the cloud sync feature, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
  • The results obtained from using the App will be accurate or reliable.
  • Any defects in the App will be corrected.

We do not guarantee that you will pass any JLPT exam or achieve any specific level of Japanese proficiency by using the App.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KANJIJO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

Our total liability for any claims arising from these Terms or the use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Kanjijo and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice.
  • You may delete your account at any time through the App settings or by contacting support@kanjijo.com.
  • Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease.
  • All provisions of these Terms that should survive termination will survive, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Vietnam, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Vietnam.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and Kanjijo regarding the use of the App.
