A Japanese vocabulary app that teaches words you can use

Kanjijo teaches 9,020 words from JLPT N5 to N1, each with audio, an example sentence with furigana, a memory story and the kanji it is written with, and schedules every word for review before you forget it.

Each word with sound, an example and a story

Every word comes with audio, an example sentence with furigana and an English translation, and an exclusive mnemonic. You learn how a word sounds and how it is used in a sentence, not only what it means in a list.

Words taught in the order the JLPT expects

The 9,020 words are grouped by JLPT level and by lesson, so you meet the everyday words of N5 first and the formal, written vocabulary of N1 last. Each lesson ends with a test that asks you to recall the word, listen for it and use it.

Recall, not recognition

Flashcards that only ask you to recognise a word feel easy and fade fast. Kanjijo’s lesson tests and SRS reviews make you produce the meaning and reading yourself, which is what moves a word into long-term memory.

Words that come to you

Home screen, lock screen and interactive test widgets put one of your words in view every time you pick up your phone, and the quiz widget lets you answer straight from the home screen.
